Puzzled about PSE 15

Hi group,
I just installed Photoshop & Premiere Elements 15 on my computer and for some crazy reason when I'd use a drop-down menu like "File or Edit, etc." the mouse would kind of pause as I scrolled down the options list. All of a sudden it cleared up and the mouse acts normal again. I only happened in PSE & the Organizer drop menus, not on any other programs. Any ideas? Take care & ...

The organizer might still be scanning in the background. On a fresh install, it scans the photo library, building an index, and depending on options selected - doing red eye fix and/or facial recognition. I have a couple of gig of photos, and when I've done a new install of PSE, that background process can take hours.

This sort of activity is related to a computer that is doing a bunch of work . . . repetitive disk accesses, lots of processor activity, significant network activity. My guess is you'll seldom see it again.

Thanks for an explanation; it really makes sense! I've been a semi-pro photographer for many years and a magazine editor for 10 of them so I had a BUNCH of photographs on several hard drives and a "business" DropBox account as well. Thanks again. Take care & ...

Yes, this is probably the case. I'd open it up and let it run for a few hours. If you don't then every time you open it, it may still may not have completed it's tasks and may keep searching your hard drives and building that database of photos. Keep it open and running all night and turn off your screen saver so that it doesn't pause after so long. It should speed up after it's done will all the updates. Also, don't forget to go to the help menu in both apps, and tell them to do an update on the actual applications. Once for the Photoshop Elements app and once for the Premiere application.

The only other thing it could be is that you have an older or slower computer with a not so powerful processor or you might be light on ram. But let the app finish all of it's business and you should be fine. If not, come back here and tell us the specs on your computer.

Honestly, the organizer in elements has always been a bit wonky, every since the first version of elements, I think it was the weak link.

I've never had that problem, but then I've always loaded just a new version of it. The last new install was when I bought my current computer. This one is a i7 with 8GB RAM, so it is pretty fast.
