I was thinking that it recorded the year month and day plus picture number am I right or wrong if I’m right how do I fix it also went I format my card the count starts over what am I doing wrong here

I believe the default is set to reset. Change it to continuous (or Auto). Custom Menu H, I believe. I don't have my camera in front of me, so I can't confirm.

The number count on my pictures are right now but it is not recording the date with the picture number

I usually do that through LR when I export my files. Otherwise, I rely on using the EXIF data for the date.
