Different? As in "Better"?!??! lol Honestly, nice pics. I have the greatest respect for these skillful trials riders. I used to compete many years ago when Bultacos and Montesas were the state of the art bikes. The competitors have advanced so far since I used to ride. It's inspiring. Thanks for sharing these photos Marionsho.

Thanks for the kind words Brent. You probably remember Bernie Schreiber.

Love watching these guy's, it's amazing how good they have become. I used to have a Bultaco Sherpa T 350 trials bike but there were no trials competitions in my area so I thought I was doing good to be able to do wheelies for a couple miles, jump 4' logs or just go about anywhere I wanted without putting my feet down. That was really a fun bike to ride but I mostly rode Husqvarna just for fun and only done a few hare scrambles, motocross and enduro. I really enjoyed going to the enduro's and going ahead to the bad places to watch the riders try to make it through the bad swamps or make it up the really bad hills. My friends and I rode this area every weekend and knew where the best action would be. We only had one enduro each year that was over a hundred miles long near Louvale and Providence Canyon in Georgia. There were at least a couple hundred riders but less than half were able to finish because it was so tough. Those were the good ole days that I will never forget. Man I wish I was young again.
Almost forgot, I remember Bernie Schreiber, he was a great rider but my hero was Malcolm Smith.

I can sure relate to Malcolm being a great rider.
You rode a lot of different stuff with hare scrambles, motocross and enduro. Good times for sure. All I ever did back in the good ole days was race 125cc MX. I started competing in Trials in the mid 80's and quit around the year 2000. Now they call it Mototrials.
A wheelie for a couple of miles is mighty impressive. Dougie Lampkin rode a bike likes's in the pictures around the Isle of Man TT track! I think it was over 18 miles!
Did your Sherpa T look like this one I shot at the KS National? The second shots a little newer model.

Don't have a photo of the one I had but it looked like the one attached. It was a 1972 model. It was not fast but pulled like a tractor and so easy to ride. The last bike I had was a 2007 XR 650L but a deer ran in front of me in 2011 and put me in the trauma ward for 2 1/2 weeks and rehab for 3 months before I got to go home so I figured I was to old to do this anymore and finally retired motorcycles after 47 years of riding. Still miss riding, it's gets in your blood and it's hard to let go but it's hard to walk now much less ride, dang it.
