I have scenery shots too, but for this set I'm sticking with animals, specifically the Elk. These were taken on 20 June 2014. Notice in the first two photos that the bulls' antlers are still in velvet.

Cows and calves taking an afternoon break on someone's lawn of a house near a town which is on an Elk migration route. Sometimes you see Elk roaming up and down the streets. The residents ignore them but tourists don't always.

nice shots. In Colorado you can see the elk browsing on homeowner's shrubs which in many cases are surrounded by wire cages to try and save them. they think at 7200 feet of elevation they own the town and in many ways they do!

Since the town, for some unknown reason, was built on an Elk migration route the residents there just let them wander where they will. They usually enter town from one side and wander slowly through to the other side where they pick up their migration route again. Townspeople have gotten use to that and so have the Elk herds. On a previous visit we stopped in the town (I've forgotten the name of it.) because the Elk were there on both sides of the street where the post office was located. I took some pictures from about 20-30 feet of a huge bull and two of his cows munching grass on the post office green. Across the street in the median green were some more cows munching away. I guess the bull got tired of the growing crowd of tourists starting to block his access to crossing the street. So he raised his head from grazing and let out a super loud screech. You wouldn't believe such a loud, high pitch noise could come from an animal that big. Then he slowly crossed the street, screeching as he went and the cows began to fall in behind him. Some of them stayed behind to grab a few more mouthfuls of grass. Finally they trotted off after him. He sauntered along and disappeared between some buildings across the street apparently on his idea of where the migration route was. I'll round up the photos on one of my various rummaging exercises and put some of them on here.
