Mt. Equinox, Arlington, VT
Mt. Equinox is about 8 miles south of Manchester, VT. The road to the summit is open seven days weekly during the season (about Memorial Day to late November) from 9 AM to 5 PM. Last car is allowed up at 4 PM. The road is owned by the the Charterhouse of the Transfiguration, the only monastery of Carthusian monks in the U.S. There is a toll. The trip to the summit is several miles of good road with some fun hairpin turns. Monastery Overlook is about halfway up. It affords the only view of the monastery which is otherwise closed to the public. The summit includes views of the Adirondacks in NY State, much of VT, and NH.
Driving up the mountain. The weather on Monday was wretched.

Lake Madeleine within closed part of the monastery lands. Normally a 35 acre reservoir it is quite low as the result of little rain during the summer.

Though a bit past peak there were islands of gorgeous color all over. The lake in the background

There are several bodies of water on the land. The leaves were particularly colorful near the water.

Weather or not, you got some snaps to show for it. Love to save one ailing and maybe add a bit more, "remember when" to the trip. So, here's the ash/maple the way I see it.

Thanks. The charterhouse sits on 7000 acres of mountain. Exquisite is the perfect adjective to describe the setting.
