I just did a follow up on my unsuccessful bat house and photos but did find something of possible interest to those who might have need for a precision camera mount.
Looking at my Bat House mount made from recycled satillite TV units on the roof, I noticed that they have very precise adjustments for lining up the dish to a satellite. Using one of those, (thrown away after the home owner switches to another provider), any handy person could find a way to mount it to a tripod or ???, then just change the settings for a very good angle point. This could be used for several methods but the one I was thinking about was for slow speed photography at something.
Use your imagination!

Lots of options here. I once saw a fellow who had adopted a tripod head to his tripod.
