I have some nature pictures where I want to remove a noisy back ground and substitute perhaps sky. I have tried manuals but they seem to anticipate a higher level of expertise than I posses. U-Tube sites all seem to skim over the subject and are more designed as lead ins to purchase subscriptions.

I would appreciate any instructions or directions to a web site. Many thanks.

You mean doing something like this?

If so you just need to learn how to select then use a layer to add whatever you want behind, as I just did with your avatar. (This one was really easy due to the sky. I used it as 'Key")

Still selection is serious business and this is what you need to concentrate on. It will be useful in many other situations.

Come to think of it, duplicate the layer the background layer, use surface blur then using a mask and opacity adjust where and how much of the blur can take over...

In this type of issue I set the opacity to 80% by default then create a hide mask. Using a white feathered brush of variable size with the opacity set at 20% I paint over the offending areas. Several overlaps are needed to completely show the effect. This method is longer than usual but really forgiving, especially when you do that for the first time. There is no need for selection here.

A third method exists using the blend mode with a different image as background layer but that can get real complex in a jiffy and will also require masking.

It can be a difficult thing to do seamlessly, and you will probably have to acquire a higher level of expertise to do it. It isn't just a push a button deal. You will have to learn to select the background. Then it is just a matter of pasting in the new background.
