I personally think that the water should have been blue as well as the sky. Then the black vegetation would have been better as a foreground.

First off, I like it. I am a fan of backing the colors out, and adding filters and such in pp.
May I suggest just leaving a hint of green in the trees to offset the hint of blue in the sky?
You may have tried it and discounted it; and I truly like the shot as is, as well.
