Happy Day! We're in Edwardsville today and tomorrow morning attending a high school reunion tonight.

Anyone have suggestions for where to find birds or subjects for a couple hours this afternoon? I see one nature center listed that has potential.

This place is pretty "metro" to me.

Thanks.

Jeff

Will see... Wasn't impressed at nature center. Not a single bird. Lake full of slime. Might have an interesting class photo. Very nice town, but way too congested and retail for me. Shangri!-La Chinese restaurant makes great Mules. Good menu also.

Nature Center lake full of slime... that could be one reason why Edwardsville, Illinois is not a major tourist destination.

Seems like the birds -- which don't seem to go there -- are smarter than people.

That's not a particularly touristy town. Just working folks doing work stuff. But, if you head over to the river you can drive the river road. I did it recently, but further north. It's quite scenic and a good road. The only problem is that there is frequently nowhere to pull off to stop and take a picture! I wanted to go to Cape Girardeau while I was there but didn't. I had cousins that lived there and I had never been there. I'm told it's now a very depressed area. How long are you there and how far afield are you willing to go?

Go rt.100 north (river road ) to Elsah. Old victorian homes, grafton fishing town. Pere Marquet state park

cross the river and go to the Forest Park Zoo (in St. Louis); you could also visit Concordia Seminary (a short distance west of Forest Park) with its architecture. You could also visit St. Louis's historic river front area. It's not Edwardsville, but it's close by!

That's City area..... Go east a little on the back roads. Arthur and Arcola are Amish towns and country. Lots of good ops around there, but may be to far...For the short time. If so head to caryle. Just a few miles away. Big resivour there. Should be good.... Then head to Arthur on the way home.
