How to describe exposure details

My club members want all uploaded images to have data including ISO,shutter speed, aperture and lens used plus any filters used as well as generally what was done in PP to come along with the photo. Some of us use full frame, bridge etc cameras. In my case I use a mirrorless with a 1.6 crop factor.
My question: How do I describe the lens in this example, Sony OSS 55 - 210 which is something like 85 - 328 in full frame equivalency. Thank you for any help.

The picture's EXIF data will have all the information they could possibly need for any given photo.

not always. I've seen more than a few that didn't give the lens info.

Most applications that are used to edit your pictures with will show you the EXIF information. Simply look at that info and include just the three or four things your club asks for like this: ISO 100 f/16 50mm CP fliter

That should be all they want or need. They really don't want your model of lens, they want the focal length. At least, that's what most people ask for.

One possibility is to just give the FF equivalent focal length (which most EXIF readers will include), and indicate that by including "equiv" in brackets - e.g. 56mm (equiv).

Post the exif data plus any other relevent info as is....trying to give a ff equivalent all the time would leave me cold....The odd person that 'needs' a ff or crop equivalent can ask 'how to work it out ' for themselves.

As it is for a club - the intent is to allow a critique based on facts rather than guesswork. Ie right lens wrong shot...wrong apereture for that intent. etc... If you have a mix of camera's it is good to have a mix of 'real life' tutoring from image examples.

That would be my take on this.

Why are all your club members interested in all this information?

All the photos you take has the information you require and can be seen in the EXIF data embedded in the photograph. All photo editors display the Exif data some where.
In windows you can find the Exif by right clicking the photograph and then clicking on properties.

If you're using a a 55-210mm, then that's what it is. If the club people want conversions, they can figure it out.

Very good question. Maybe this is a Photography/Engineering Club.

Right, and would they want the FF equivalent or the numbers on the lens? Lens specs can be deceptive where conversion factors are involved.

I suspect they are just wanting to try to learn from the shots...
I use Flicker to look up photos taken with different camera and lens combinations that I may have or am interested in viewing.

Best,
Todd Ferguson

The same reason hoggers DEMAND the same information.
