Call me stubborn, but I'll continue to pursue given I was given false info the first time and received the email that the order was being shipped (with tracking #). Had they been up front with me from the beginning and not wasted a couple hours of my time, I would have accepted a compromise. They were not truthful and did not want to live up to their mistake in pricing. The 2nd promo was for $1999.95 from around $2449.

Just remember, if you used your credit card, you are in control. Also, you did print out that email, didn't you??

Best of luck. Don't let the fine print, written by a Nikon lawyer, dismay you, even if they quote it back to you; as I noted, just because they wrote it doesn't mean it doesn't violate the law - it is meant to dissuade you from taking further action, and it works in most cases.

But do make sure the state (both the in the state where it was sold, and also in the state where it was purchased) law is on your side - a bit of research and a phone call or two up front will increase your chances of success.

In my mind, the order was complete when they sent me the email with the pricing spelled out, including the discount and a tracking number. Even Judge Judy would have to say that the sale was complete.

I’m guessing the fine print written by the Nikon Legal Team would win out....but that is pretty crappy to say the least. I remember years ago a local store posted an incredible deal on an item I was buying and when I took it to the register, the owner or manager sold it to me for the bargain price because that was the posted price. That store won my loyalty. It’s very sad that some weasle words in fine print wins out. Keep us posted on what happens- I hope you get the camera for $1099!

Adorama did the same thing to me and then had the audacity to tell me that the ad was misworded!

Awhile back, Sony made a similar type of mistake, on the A7rII - the price was unbelievable low. I don’t need to tell you that tons of people placed orders, but in the end, all orders were canceled and Sony used the same excuse.

I wish you the best, but I don’t think that you will succeed.

Inform them you have a receipt and tracking number. If they refuse to honor the sale you will sue them for breach of contract. That is what that receipt implies, a contract between them and you.
Then ask if they have a customer retention Dept. If not say the legal Dept will do.
Very sorry you are having the issue, but as someone stated earlier Bait and Switch requires them to offer you a different item and it is almost impossible to litigate.

Are you sure you dealt with genuine Nikon Store. I doubt Nikon would do something like this.

The Angry photographer had a vid on you tube about it. The price was a mistake & all orders cancelled. Is it legal? Thats another story.

Rather then getting all bent out of shape, you should make contact with higher Nikon management and discuss the situation in a calm manner. I'm sure some type of compromise can be achieved, Give it a try.

Wow 1,099 for a 810 refurb is a steal (more like a price for an 800/800E/610 refurb). This is not bait and switch: (1) this refurb sale was limited time and (2) they have limited refurb models available unlike a brand new product off the assembly line - so they may have only a handful of refurb models on hand while 100s or 1000s of new models to sell. What Nikon should do however is have better inventory control tied with the shopping cart -almost all shopping cart systems allow this on the back-end for the seller. This is especially true for refurbs with limited quantities.

I've been dealing with Nikon for almost 8 years, and using Nikon products for 45 years. Never had a problem, even including getting products directly from Nippon Kogaku that I couldn't purchase here in the U.S.
