What are your requirements and circumstances? Why do you ask?

LR6 is a 1-time purchase and will support all types of cameras and their raw format that exist thru the end-of life of the product, probably Dec 2017. Also available are lens profiles, again limited to those that exist through the end of support for the software. So, if you shoot RAW and intend to buy a new camera in 2018, your LR software won't support those future cameras. The LRCC software is a monthly subscription with regular updates adding new product features, support for new cameras and fixing any reported problems. The subscription model also provides access to Photoshop.

The software and your photos reside on your local computer with both products where the LRCC software periodically must connect to the internet to assure the active status of your account as a paying customer and to download and install available updates.

The standalone v6 software is more cost effective if you don't change cameras to the newest and greatest release. Although new features are not available, if you don't have them today, how can you miss them tomorrow? At $10 / month subscription, after a year or more, the LRCC will cost more in total than the 1-time v6 purchase. One could argue that with access to a fully operational copy of Photoshop as part of the monthly subscription, you actually need a few years of payments before your total subscription cost exceeds the 1-time charge of buying both software packages independently.

LR6 is a 1-time purchase and will support all type... (show quote)

But you forget that not only do you get Lightroom for that $10 per month and also Photoshop and Bridge. When I look at what Photoshop has cost me in previous years, I appreciate my monthly subscription.

I look for monthly expenses to cancel - like Netflix. I have LR6 and PS CS6, and that's the last money I'll spend on Adobe products. Yes, there are gradual improvements to LR CC, but they're not worth $120 a year to me. I've read several times that LR 6 will be the last free-standing version of LR. Maybe that's true, and maybe it isn't, but I'd never pay a monthly fee to process. There are lots of good alternatives to Adobe.

Aside from the cost, LR CC would be better because you get the incremental improvements.

I paid the one year option for LR/PS. I like that it’s up to date. Prefer the one year payment then monthly. I have to many monthly subscriptions.

Cloud...it's more expensive in the long run, but it's always up to date and has all its features available, unlike 6.

LR 6 new is around $150.00 as an upgrade around $100. CC is standard around $120 per year (but around black Monday can usually be had for $90)

If you are not going to upgrade the program for say more than two years AND are not going to incorporate Photoshop into your workflow, get LR 6. Otherwise CC.

The thought did make it into the last sentence ... But, you've got a good point that maybe others should consider in the context of Photoshop Elements (PSE) and fully functional Photoshop that comes with the LRCC / PSCC subscription. That is: You've already made a historical 1-time purchase of PSE, why then subscribe to PSCC? Your standalone LR (or the LRCC) can use your PSE software as an external editor.

Now those that really know the software will know that PSE edits at 8-bit where your RAW and / or 16-bit TIFFs from your camera and LR are downgraded when passing to PSE for editing. This is a big deal for high-end edits where the LRCC / PSCC option is the only option from Adobe.

Lightroom exists because Adobe was visionary in their recognition that most photographers and most images don't need the power and complexity of Photoshop nor the 'lite' version sold as PSE.

I really like the cloud, everything is always up to date and I don't mind $10 a month. One less 6 pack ☺

I guess it all depends on your needs. For my Nikon files Capture NX2 with final touches with Photoshop is all I need.
