Thank you so much for the warm sentiments. The wedding will be G-d willing in February so I may hopefully have some more photos then.
I appreciate all the help you have been to us "hoggers", so I won't turn you in for your crime. Giving liquor to a minor. Shame on you! Seriously, though, best wishes to the young couple and congratulations to the proud papa!

Neat. When I went to Israel last summer we saw what I think was a marriage happening just outside the Wailing wall. I understand Jewish tradition is to marry on Thursdays (the night Jesus changed water into wine - his first miracle)

We make weddings every day of the week except for Friday evenings thru Saturday night (the Sabbath day) and no weddings on any Jewish holiday.
Hershel, thank you for sharing this most important event in your life with us “Hoggers”. Congratulations to you and a long, healthy, and happy marriage to the beautiful young couple. May you be blessed with MANY “Grands”.

It is tradition and customary that when 2 families are agreed that their children will marry that the engagement is finalized and formalized over a toast which is called a L'chayim (to life). It has become my personal custom to give each granddaughter an expensive bottle of whiskey on their 18th birthday with the provision that they open it and use it to make the L'Chayim toast on the night of their engagement. Below are some photos of my granddaughter Miriam and her groom Yossi holding the bottle of Mortlach Old and Rare Single Malt Scotch which was used for the toast.
The second photo is at the public engagement party where the mothers of the bride and groom prepare to break a traditional plate after the "Tenoyim" (prenuptial agreement) is read aloud.
Third photo is of the bride and groom displaying the traditional gifts they have exchanged, an engagement ring and gold wristwatch.
