The view from the top of the Old Post Office Clock Tower...
in Washington is quite worthwhile. Most of the buildings are more impressive from street level but the view from the tower is different. Because the Washington Monument is currently being renovated this is one of the best views readily available.
The old post office building is currently the home of the Trump International Hotel, but the clock tower is operated by the National Parks Service and is open to the public. Photography and video are welcomed in the museum and the tower. However, if you enter the hotel lobby, only cell phone pictures are allowed - no cameras (cameras can be carried but can't be used).
My only regret is that the tower is not photo friendly. For safety, the entire open area at the top of the tower is enclosed with either closely spaced steel cables or dirty, smudged plexiglas. I got a few acceptable shots but nothing to be proud of. I did, however, enjoy the view!

The Washington Monument does not lean to the right.

Thanks, Mike. It was more for the view than the photographic results. Except for the gardens, most of the roof tops are not so pretty and the shooting conditions are bad!

It must! Pictures don't lie!

Excellent set Carol.
Thank you, Jim. I almost didn't post these but I suspect a lot of tourists miss the tower.

Thank you for your very generous comments, Gary. These were all difficult shots to take and to process. I'm not happy with the results but I like the subject matter and I thought many might not be aware of the Clock Tower. It is an interesting landmark and that downtown area is interesting to explore also.

Thank you, Sylvia. Washington seems to have gardens in every nook and cranny. With my love of flowers, I found that very pleasing. The buildings are truly beautiful, too.
DC has some wonderful photo opportunities!
I like the way you have photographed them.
Impressive and your perspective is certainly NOT the "usual" and most interesting. #8 is really a winner in my opinion, just a totally different idea.

Thank you, Sundar. I tried to be a little different and go for some less know features. DC is a hard place to get really good shots. There are so many barricades and other obstructions that really mar the beauty of many of the building. Getting a perspective that works is a challenge.
