This is the fire in spearfish that took as of yesterday approximately 175 acres in real rough terrain. On top of a telephone pole was a nest that had been very nicely finished off with tape from who knows where. In the nest was one of the pair and the other one was a bit away from it in a tree watching what was going on. Over head were air national guard choppers with their baskets of water for dropping on the fire. So here they are and they may not be very good but it was the fire that we wanted to see so the birds were a treat for us.
Here is the nest with her I think sitting on it with the young.
Here is the mate he started out sitting on a telephone pole .
Here is a picture with the wind having died down and with a bit less of a bad doo!!.
This was the one that was on the pole in flight.
This is where he took a roost in a tree about 200 yards away.
Here is the one that was on the nest returing to the nest.
While I was taking these pictures there was a fire going on about 5 or 6 miles away and this was all we were able to see!!
Here comes the chopper back from a run over the fire.
here he was returning to the fire just about right over head and over the birds.
This shot I got as they passed overhead on the way back to the fire.
