Of the things we did in the UP was chase lighthouses... fortunately they don't move very fast. This one was very clean and decorative, but based in a boat club with no-trespassing signs. I bribed a Coast Guard dude with fresh coffee just to get into the parking lot. Even then... boats and congestion took up lots of space. Then I moved around and shot the 'sister' light from a different angle. The flag helped bring out the story.
I'm adverse to taking photos that don't stand a chance of being very artistic, but having driven up to the UP I hated not to record most of what I encountered. Many are just record shots with no redeeming value... I'll pick away at them in the weeks to come. The ones in metro areas need lots of wires removed, towers and streetlights pulled down. Good practice, I guess... the light and clouds were with me this day.
I'm certain not to have been the only member to have found this boat club. Would enjoy seeing what others have done.
Happy Thursday! Jeff
The first two photos are quite nice. The third one needs to have the exposure and the vertical lines straightened in PP.

The third one was only included to show the surrounding congestion. But thanks.

That has to be one of the most congested Lighthouse photos I've ever seen. Looks like they moved it to some Movie back lot. No Ocean (or Lake in view). You really were just recording what you saw. Are there lighthouses on Lake Michigan? I know where there are quite a number of nice ones in California in Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego Counties alone (on the Pacific Ocean).
I was in the San Diego area once and did not find the lighting interesting on one Lighthouse so I did not bother with an outside shot in the near rainy conditions, so I moved in side to Abstraction.
Point Loma, Cabrillo, San Diego, CA, Feb 2014.

Yes to light houses on lake MI. The MI and WI tourism offices provide some good guides. The ones on Lake MI are more spread out.
Nice shot. Some light house scenes aren't the best. Where is the one you did in San Diego? I must have missed it.
Old Point Loma... How'd I miss that?

Michigan also has lighthouses on Lake Superior.
Whitefish Point is a famous one.
It is just off here that the "Edmund Fitzgerald" sank
and was later memorialized in a song by Gordon Lightfoot.
Yes. We did the south shore of Lake Superior for three weeks back in July. Falls, lighthouses, shipwrecks and great food. We finished with a couple days coming down the West shore of Lake MI.

Where is this lighthouse?
I did a lighthouse tour up there a few years ago.

I'd have to check my dates and travel plan, but I think it's the Yacht club in Sheboygan or Manitowok? Two lights right near the Coas Guard station in the club parking lot/launch. There is another one which os on the breakwater and is red.
I can't find them on the LighthouseFriends.com map. They weren't historic.
