My grandkids corraled me and took me into the front yard to show me 3 spiders in different areas of the yard. None of the 4 grandkids, ages 6-9. shied away from pointing them out.Their parants are more scared of spiders then the kids. Anyway, I collected my camera and went to town taking various photos of these interesting creatures. Then one of the girls spotted a dragonfly caught in a web and the spider was wrapping it up.
Here are a couple more photos. Anybody know what type of spiders these are? I'm in the Antelope area of Sacramento Calif. I tried to research them but no luck. Thanks for you help.
'Cause Kids have not been bit by one yet.
Nice shots. They need enlarging and hanging somewhere - dining room? : )
black widows. They don't all have the perfect hourglass on the abdomen.
They are all orb weavers. I don't know more specific than that. They are beautiful, harmless, and fun to watch. Up to you, but they would appreciate it if you caught a live insect and placed it in their web. The action that results is pretty amazing.
Excellent shots, gray_ghost2!
