The band in heaven just got a big upgrade. We've lost too many great artists lately.

Whenever I read things like "R.I.P." or "the band in heaven" I cannot help but ask "do folks think before they type or is this so ingrained in us that we do it automatically?"

R.I.P. = Rest in peace.

What does that mean?

Does that mean that everyone who dies is "at peace"? Just having a nice slumber nap feeling great?

Do people even think through what they believe about what happens after a person dies and at least try and reconcile it with things that they say?

As for the "band in heaven" thing...that's just nonsensical. Where did the concept of a Heaven come from and how is it defined? By anything we think makes us feel good? One person thinks that there is a band in heaven and another thinks that there is a photography club in heaven and another thinks that there aren't either of those things in heaven yet all three are right?

Is anything objectively true when it comes to this subject or is it just whatever makes us feel good is true?

"If there's a rockin roll heaven, then you know they got a hellava band": some of the dumbest lyrics ever written.
No disrespect to Petty--I was a fan.

For the record, I was also. Good song writer and good band also.

Oh..I'm not an agnostic! I'm definitely a born again believer. If I had to stop at just asking these questions with no answers I'd despair!

Fortunately, the Christian worldview isn't in the same boat. The question of how one is at peace with God and what the point of anything is and what is truth? (and all else for that matter) are answered. Only the Christian worldview can provide a foundation for the answers to any of this.

The Christian has every reason to R.I.P. and to answer the most basic questions of existence.

Jesus was never known to sing, dance or play music. They say there is an Angel Band, could be a rumor.

George Jones, Ralph Stanley, Vince Gill - Angel Band
