I am VERY thankful that this guy was at eye level when I opened my front door. I'm not really fond of spiders and I can only imagine how I would have reacted. I slammed the door shut but then decided .... Photo Op! Took me a few minutes and lots of courage, but I got the shot. Doesn't show the actual web but for me, it was close enough! =)
I had one in my garage a few years ago, it was up high, so no real problem. I sprayed it everyday with Windex until it finally perished.
There's nothing quite as bad as walking into a web. Good shot, though!
I saw worse in Oklahoma. Like the poisonous "brown recluse."
WD-40 works really well. It seems that as soon as you oil them, they quit working.

I believe in live and let live.....as long as they are not in where I'm living 😁 so I got an umbrella and gave him a lift to the yard. Then I quickly "swept away" all the web ..... he wasn't there this morning and I'm hoping he isn't there when I get home from work tonight. Reminder to self: check back door

LOL
Yes, but it would have left an oil stain on the ceiling drywall. I usually use denatured alcohol or Windex, because they fully evaporate, leave no stains.

Sometimes I use my wife's hairspray on mosquitoes. I bet that'll work on spiders, too.
I can clearly see the usefulness of many living things, but I still do not understand spiders! We have very useful lizards in our back yard to eat bugs, we do not need spiders. Squish them all!

This "guy" shows all the earmarks of a Black Widow spider. NO, you don't want to tangle with this one. They are very prevalent in Southern California. I used to take out at least 2 or 3 a night around my house. BTW, they can jump...
Rich...
Aphids, mites, ticks, gnats, mosquitos, house flies, cockroaches, wasps, smaller spiders and other unwelcome smaller and larger critters in the average home... all are on the menu for spiders. Keeps your home clean. Sort of like sharks in the ocean. All serve a purpose.
I hate spiders too, they seem to move so fast.
I find RAID works very well. IMHO, the only GOOD spider is a DEAD spider.
