Nikon 7000 repair

When I removed the 32 GB memory card from slot 1 of my Nikon 7000 camera, I noticed that the upper right corner of the card was damaged. When I attempted to replace the card, it appears that something inside the slot may also be damaged, preventing proper insertion of the card.

I am seeking advice on the names and addresses of Nikon camera repair providers who are competent, prompt and reasonably priced.

Any advice you can give regarding who to trust with this repair or whom to avoid would be greatly appreciated.

Also, is there any possibility that the files on the damaged card could be retrieved? If so, how?

Thanks in advance for your advice and help.

Go to nikonusa.com and look under the Service and Support heading. You will find their dialogue on approved repair facilities. They have you put in your camera model and your zip code. Then show a list of facilities in your region that are authorized to work on that camera.

Your best choice is Nikon for the repair. Go to http://www.nikonusa.com/en/service-and-support/service-and-repair.page and find the repair section. From OK, they'll likely have you ship it to Melville, NY. I've used that facility several times and have never been disappointed with their work.

Although I've never had to use it, I hear the Recuva utility can recover images from defective SD cards. https://www.wondershare.net/ad/all-data-recovery/data-recovery-new.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIvtuP3LPS1gIVEluGCh3XUQrFEAAYASAAEgKVaPD_BwE

I have had several repairs done by CRISCam out of Chandler, AZ. They did a great job in every instance and were reasonable. Handled authorized repairs on most major brands. Give them a call and let them know their good work got a recommendation. (480) 940-1103

Bear in mind a used D7000 can be bought for about $350. If it was me I would just use the second slot and not pay for the repair. If the damaged card can not be used in a card reader, I'd say those pics are lost. Maybe post a pic of the damaged card. It's hard to visualize the damage as everything on the card is flush, no pins or anything to stick out and break or bend.

Thanks for your response. I have been able to reset the camera so that all .jpg, .nef, and .mov files are sent to and saved on the card in slot 2. I've ordered an new 32 GB card and all seems to be working well.
