My daughter and I also did a horseback ride down confederate avenue and across the field at Pickets charge. A wonderful experience indeed!
Thanks,
Shane

What Chamberlin and the 20th Maine did at Little Round top is an amazing story for sure. Thanks for the comment.

Very nice photos. Interestingly there are two posts over the last couple of days that are historically connected. This one and the Bowden College windows. The connection being Joshua Chamberlain. He was a teacher of Rhetoric at Bowden, joined the Union Army and fought at Gettysburg. His tactics at Little Round Top prevented the southern army from flanking the Union lines. Went back to Bowden as President and then became Governor or Maine. Just a little factoid.

We had our first opportunity to travel to Gettysburg recently. It is a very sobering place....We had beautiful weather while there and learned a lot about our country's history.

Great photos. Can't wait to go there. I had a great, great uncle wounded there, John Bailey, who was also wounded at Mine Run and captured there. Spent 2-1/2 years in a Yankee prison camp. Was released on July 15, 1865. Came home and fathered 9 kids.
Beautiful photos of an awesome place.
My assumption is that cannon is not a CSA arm, as it has not been yet removed for its "traitorous" role in the war.
Great shots by the way.
