Back from Big Bend and Terlingua, TX.
Really nice National Park and quiet town.
Had a great time but my D7100 did not get along with the Rio Grande. LOL.
So now I have a wet (well its dry now) but not working camera.
Anyone have experience with a getting a wet camera repaired and is it worth it?
Ive had several people tell me their's worked a for a little while but then crapped out again.
Was thinking of upgrading to a D610.
A few of are pics from my iPhone. Works ok as an emergency backup.

Beautiful shots. Look into getting a refurb D7200. Sell the D7100 on ebay "For Parts."

Knowing how silty (and dirty) the Rio Grande is, I'd say your camera is well and truly dead. I don't see how anyone could get all the sand particles out. I'd say get a new camera. Can't tell you which one.

Great photos. Sorry about the damage to your D7100. Been there, done that too. Two years ago or so left the car to go hiking in a local preserve - not a cloud in the sky or prediction of rain. Yup, about an hour later, maybe two miles away from any kind of shelter, the skies opened up. Camera and brand new Tamron 150-600 lens exposed to a deluge for at least an hour. No harm to the Tamron, but the camera was dead. Off to Nikon, about a week and a half and $337 later, a fully repaired camera back in my hands. It continues to function perfectly. I would check around for the price of a refurb to find out if the cost is comparable, but if not, definitely your camera is worth repairing. BTW, I have since learned that there are very inexpensive raincoats for cameras that you can put in your pocket for when needed.
