This is my lovely 9-yr-old granddaughter, Lilly who came out from Reno to visit with us over the summer. We took her down to Chattanooga to visit the Tennessee Aquarium. The original photo was taken during lunch as the Aquarium is just across the street. I was working on this Day Into Night conversion when I decided to take a break and create the tutorial for this technique. This is definitely the most technically challenging image I have tackled to date. I hope you like it ...
Nicely done Don and a great tutorial...the light on her front side seems a touch out of place or too bright, mainly because of the bright light directly behind her I think, subconsciously my brain gets confused....course with my brain it doesn't take much.....

Thanks Frank, and to avoid brain confusion, just think of it as fill light from your flash — if there were none, then Lilly would just be a silhouette with that light behind her.
Thanks you, and like I said earlier, just keep up the practice. Find something you like and then ask if it's something you can turn and then just practice with it.

That is so cool! I just tried my first experiment with your tutorial, it didn't turn out very well, but I learned from it and will try again. Yours is awesome! I bet Lilly loves it.

Thanks Minnie, and I’m glad you gave it a go. It does take a bit of practice, but if you keep trying, you’ll create some really great looking images.

It is really good. I'm especially impressed how you got the balcony on the right to light up. Also I think the different intensities of light in the windows gives the shot a very realistic look. Sure the end result looks processed; but that does not detract in the least. You continue to impress us. Erich
