I agree with the responses from SusanFromVermont, Kmqw9v, and Acountry330. I own the Nikon 24-70 and 70-200 lenses which both produce outstanding images. These are quality lenses that produce excellent images and are very well constructed to provide many years of use. There are only two drawbacks to these two lenses, they are relatively heavy, and they are not cheap. But as Kmqw9v notes you get what you pay for with which I also agree. That said, it all depends on what you want to image and how close you are to your subject. I am a fan of the Nikon 50mm/f1.4 and the older 60mm/f2.8 macro lens. For the correct application these lenses can produce excellent results with regard to clarity and detail, and they are generally affordable. As is often repeated on this forum, you need to define what you are trying to capture and then it is much easier to focus on lenses which will help you achieve your end goal. Both the Nikon 24-70 and 70-200 are great general purpose lenses which will provide many years of excellent service in a breadth of applications if the user takes appropriate care of them.
