Jerry, I am not familiar with the D850 and I do not believe I will ever be unless I rent it, which is not in my future plans. It is perfectly well understood that the new technologies are making the new cameras more efficient and better than ever. Are we ready to spend a fortune every couple of years just to get the best and the latest gear? I surely am not in that list.
I am sure the D850 will sell well and that means "older" gear with low millage will be available for sale at more comfortable prices.
I am always curious when images of a new camera are posted but I believe I am real when I perfectly know well that I cannot buy new gear so often. My old D7000 and D610 are enough cameras for me and come to think of it I am using now more my Olympus mirrorless cameras than my dSLR.
Thank you for posting those links for us.

It's certainly a nice camera, but the price and some features will keep me from buying one.

I have one on order with B&H since August 24th at 8AM and I am still weighting, still being told it is on back-order. I hope I see it before 2018 it has been paid for.

Sounds like a very nice camera. But it is too rich for my blood.

I shoot with a Nikon D500 and a D7100. These cameras serve my needs and what I am shooting. I shoot mainly sports.
The price is to much money for me. Why pay over $5,000 when my 500 cost me $2,000.
Good luck and let's see your photos when you buy the beast.

I've heard that there was a shipment this week and every other week following. I've ordered mine from B&H on Aug. 30 so I'm in the same boat as you.

I'm shure that it's a fine camera, that being said...my money tree died years ago....and I have no use for a D850..
