Need a photography book for 10yo grandson

My 10yo grandson is becoming quite interested in photography after receiving a little Coolpix point & shoot from us last Christmas which he takes almost everywhere. I think he's ready to move up to the P520 which was handed down to his mom after I moved up to my D7200 (as a Mother of Multitudes, she rarely uses it, preferring her camera phone!). I'd like to find a good age appropriate book for Liam which covers the basics with a emphasis on composition. BTW - he's an excellent reader and a bit of a techno-geek. Any recommendations would be much appreciated!

Anne Laure Jacquart, “Photo Adventures for Kids: Solving the Mysteries of taking Great Photos”

Amazon carries it. I got it for my 9 yr. old grandson and we are working through it together. It teaches skills and is really quite good.

I think Bryan Peterson's "Understanding Exposure" would be an excellent read to start!!

Any of Steve Perrys books. LOL. I owned them all. Hey Steve, come out with the children’s coloring book up order.

Very good question I’m looking forward to the answers.

Make sure whatever you choose is a recent publication. Digital photography changes so fast.

In addition to stocking your grandson up with good photography books, you might want guide him to the vast amount of knowledge that is online in the form of reviews and how-to videos. I just finished a FREE audio/video book that I found because I wanted to better myself using my Nikon speedlight:

I think everyone would agree that there are probably a lot more people that should not be making videos than there are those who should have not written/published a hardcopy, but that is not to say there is no good information out there. It might just be that Grandma might have to help him choose from time to time. Good luck to you and your grandson!

There's a series of books called "From Snapshots to Great Shots". They are intended for beginner to intermediate photographers. Here are some that could be good. I've read some of the Portrait Photography book and have been thinking about purchasing it. It's very good.

If you are a photographer you should be able to help. Send him to the library.
