Aircraft nose art from WWII
Do you think they would allow this today?
Thanks for the reminders. Imagine an airman wanting to do that today..........
Thanks for posting those, great historic pics, unfortunately, I don't think the AF permits that today!
These days we're so busy assuaging our guilt over historic events that we are politically correct to a fault. These photos are a terrific reminder of better days, not that we were at war, but that we were one people against a common enemy. Great photos-thanks for sharing!

A great collection of inspirational art from WW II
And the brave men who flew those aircraft had a short life expectancy, so their art was morale boosting. About 30,000 airmen died in the ETO/MTO. PC had no place.
Thanks for sharing.
Those were some great pieces of work. Wonderful talent and creativity by the artists. And, as I recall, they painted some of the large bombs, too! Not as elaborate, but still carried a message.
These are great. Thanks for sharing
Very interesting retrospective.
Question, I known we have pictures of those painting, but are painting themselves still around today? Has anyone put all the pictures of those painting in a book?
Quinn, just do a google search for
vintage aircraft nose art
There seems to be plenty.

I have seen some of these on WWII aircraft that come to New Orleans for the World War II air expo every November. Great show not to miss.

Maybe I not making myself clear. I talking about original nose art from WWII, not a reprint.
