Hesh! Thanks for positing.

I don't want to critique your image on a very technical "fine portraiture" basis. Those kinds of critiques will come later when we get into some of the planed workshops.

As a causal graduation day image, it is very nice. Two lovely young ladies on their big day and the expression are indicative of the occasion. Their postures show a nice relationship as well. The use of natural light is well done and the "bokeh" or selective focus from shallow depth of field is a nice background treatment. Pretty girls and pretty flowers- always a good combination and a fine keepsake for them. Exposure seems good on my monitor but the color balance seems slightly cold.

Even in a very controlled image with very sophisticated lighting and posing, the ability to capture expression, not always big smiles- whatever expresses the mood of your motif, is of paramount importance. This is why I commented on the expression and the mood of the image.

Keep on participating here.

Only two things in my opinion:
- Most important: You need to catch the attention of both models.
- Nature of the 'beast': You might want to pay attention to details like lettering on the flower wrapping. Unwrapping them could be a solution or create another wrapping.

I would have framed/cropped it differently as I find an unbalance overall but then again this an opinion, nothing else.

Nice Eye catch on the reverse lettering. However, I find the "un ballance" particularly interesting. I've read that group shots should be taken with people appearing at different heights. Finally, you bring an interesting point: Must the models ALWAYS look towards the camera?
I would offer, perhaps not.
