You can also put a cloud behind the trees to eliminate having to work the sky into the trees

Thanks Yelocab, very good advice, I was just thinking that would be a good idea, I will try that next time I replace the cloudy sky.

Very nicely saved. From "not so good" to "Nice Shot" was a stretch and you made it. Is it over done - Yep, but it looks nice.

How can you get an overexposed in the middle of a set? Hard to be sure without seeing the exif, but sometimes as you handle the camera it gets pointed at a dark spot or area (your lap or the back of the person next to you) and the exposure locks in when your finger pushes the button halfway down.

I thought the white behind the trees was a lovely cumulus cloud! Made the shot seem very natural.

I cannot understand how it only happened with this photograph, l can only think that l could have accidentally nudged the exposure compensation wheel which surrounds the shutter button somehow, and you say I may have locked the exposure before composing.

Huge improvement! Pleasant scene worth the work to save. Wonder if adding a vignette would decrease the highlights in the foreground?
