I 'spose there are a lot of these old railroad tracks spread across the country. Just thought it was interesting wondering when the the last train rolled along here. Looks like it's been awhile. Toms River NJ by the way

Makes you wonder, doesn't it? Actually, it is not that hard to look them up. Sometimes there is a real neat history that goes along with them.

You're right and I'll bet you got old ones and some stories out in Kansas City. Maybe even the James brothers.

Oh, yeah. One of my endeavors included researching the old Wabash line along highway 36 in Missouri. In 1926 near Chillicothe a heavy rain washed out a railroad bridge and a whole train went in the drink. They pulled out the locomotive but left all the rolling stock in the river. Upon further reading, I found out that the remains of the rolling stock are still visible. This was a few years ago. I was in the area one day and decided to have a look for myself. And sure enough, all sorts of stuff was imbedded in the river bank. Pretty cool. I should have taken a camera with me. I might go back some day with a camera. I am sure it is still there.

Great story. was that the Wabash Cannon Ball?? Sounds like a song by Roy Acuff or maybe Hank Snow. Guess I'm dating myself enough. Just go back, take pics and post 'em
