My latest garage sale find this afternoon: a Minox! Complete with case and chain. Even has the little leather tab I assume to attach it to a button. Price was cheap enough, so........Anyway, it seems to be in perfect condition except for the ½ second shutter speed that sounds slow. Otherwise no marks or dings.
Only identifying mark - other than the name on the back - is on the automatic lens cover, as shown.
I have never owned or even used one of these, so if someone can identify the model number it would be very helpful. Is there is a link to the manual that would show me how to open it? I suspect there is a film cassette inside, but don't want to force anything to see.
Clearly, any help would be most appreciated!

I had one and in it's time was considered a spy camera. Ebay sells the film in B&W and Color.

You can't. You have to return it to Q-Branch at MI6 in London.
Search Wikipedia and Google for model details.
Pull the camera out, nothing is going to break, that will open the lens and cock the shutter. In that position you will see a little half moon shaped crest. Push down on that and pull out again you will see the film chamber. It's sort of hard to explain. It is a model A by the looks.

Be aware that the chain can be stretched from the camera to a close subject, producing an in-focus image. Manual for Minox B @

I went all over my Minox B with a magnifying glass and was unable to find a model designation. A friend who owned a camera store for 40+ years told me they were all identified by their features. Non including it's many special editions, at least 14 models have been identified, in addition to the original. Yours appears to be a fairly recent model (no selenium cell, readout in inches, metal chain). Yours looks to be in good shape.

I'd say it's a B. It's smaller than my C, which has auto exposure. I stopped using mine because buying film and getting it developed became difficult and expensive. If you can find the battery(s) you need, Minox was selling adapters to use non-mercury batteries a few years ago. I would have put three (I think) modern batteries into the holder in place of the one, old larger one.
It's a spy camera.
They don't like to identify themselves.

No battery, so not a Model B, right? Also have noticed a black helicopter hovering over my apartment building and clicking noises on my phone. Probably just coincidence.......
I had one in service one 50 years ago. It was expendable from supply. It also had a mirror so you could hold it at your side and look down to aim it. They had a kit to process the film in a bathroom sink. It also had a projector and much more. I think the ASA was 10 & 25. Had black and white and color film. I once used color at 100 ASA and took a special tech to process it. It was basically an 8MM still camera.
