OM-D 12-50mm kit lens VS M.Zuiko 45mm prime

Just thought I would share a test image to show why so many of us are asking: "why a prime lens versus a decent zoom?"
This is just a test shot of some equipment in my office, cropped to size but rendered at 100%. Original image is jpeg, camera set to iAuto in both cases, ambient light. The image on left is the 12-50mm set at max zoom, the one on the right the 45mm. Maybe my inexperience but I certainly would not have expected such a dramatic difference in quality between the two. I guess the lesson here is that there is no substitute for good glass.

Just to clarify, I am very aware of the fact that the faster prime allowed the camera to drop the ISO and that this will dramatically affect the final output, however, if you can't change the shooting environment, this is the result..
