Hilton head trip long weekend coming up
My wife and I are traveling to Hilton Head next weekend from Florida. Does anybody have any suggestions where to go for a good photography session?
As you cross over the bridge going on the island there is a great place to eat just on the left. The name escapes me but if you love seafood, that's the place to go. Sorry I can't be of help with the pictures.

I’ll search for it. Love seafood.
Yacht basin, lighthouse, trees w/ Spanish moss, typical tourist stuff... It's been a while since I was last there, but it is a wonderful place to visit. Enjoy!👍🤓👍
If you want to take nature/wildlife shots, I suggest you take the ferry over to Daufuskie Island, rent a cart, and just explore. The island is sparsely populated, and the wildlife is abundant. Many birds, animals, gators, as well as woods, beaches, etc.
Remember that there has been some hurricane damage and all businesses may not be open

most of the Wildlife refuges are closed for Irma repairs, so call first. The Savannah WMA is on the S.C. side of the Savannah river and is good site, but call first.
F Y I -- Irma caused limited damage on Daufuskie, and what businesses there are on the island (not many -- mostly crafts) are up and running. On the other hand, it is an unofficial wildlife area, and thus not structured (there is no open or close -- it's just there). DI is probably one of the only places where you can see echoes of what Southern sea islands were like before commercialism.
Pinkney Island, on the left before the main bridge, for wildlife. You can hike or bike. There's a rookery about 3/4 of a mile in on the right that is often very active--not sure about this time of year, the youngsters will have flown the coop. The trees were badly denuded by Andrew last year, but there was still a lot of activity there this last Spring.
We have been going to HHI every year for 32 years. Defausky island is good but it is a boat ride to get there. You would need to block out a day for that trip. Your best bet for wildlife is Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge. Especially birds. Also be cognizant of the alligators anywhere on the island. They are faster than you.

LOL, Had many run ins with gators in Florida.
Thanks for the tip.
For great photo opportunities, Pinkney Island Wildlife Preserve for water fowl; Old Bluffton Town for historic old homes, a really good look at the "Old South".
mffox is correct about two great locations. On Pinckney there is an area where a large number of different birds nest. It is too late for the babies, but the array of birds is worth the walk (no cars in the preserve). Old Bluffton has some beautiful old places and great spots for May River shots. Sea Pines Plantation has the signature lighthouse and a nice view of the sound. Outside Hilton Head tour company has great water tours with ample opportunity for dolphin shots. A must see is the electric boat tour that H2O has in Sea Pines. Good alligator shots plus an array of eagles, etc. Finally, Hilton Head has wonderful bike paths that present many good photo ops.
Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. My wife asked similar question on facebook and honestly your answer and suggestions are ten times better. Other said eat there or there but could not remember the restaurant name.... LOL
