Please forgive me, I am a newbie still learning to figure out this awesome site with out causing too many waves...but...I can't seem to find the link to a contest? I think it was a theme of "Kitchen". What am I doing wrong?

Go to the top of the page, click on "Home", then go to the bottom of that page to see what contest are going on at that time. If any... the Kitchen Contest is over.

Like renomike said you can look at all the contests from the bottom of the homepage. All of the contests right now are over, including the Kitchen Contest. Many of the others it will tell you that you can submit a photo and many people here still do every day, but they are abandoned by the people who started them.

The latest contests have been run by me and those have been the Wildlife Contest and the Kitchen Contest. I have them set so that there are no more submissions to the contest and so everyone realizes they are now over.

Keep on the lookout though because I plan to host more contests in the future. I will post a thread about a possible theme for the contest and if members like it I open a new contest with all the details and rules and a thread to go along with the contest about what's happening with it.

I keep hoping that more members here will take the initiative and open some because I would like to compete in a few myself rather than having to host all the time. (I just feel like it would be wrong to enter my own contests so I have chosen not to do so.)

The way you set up the last one, I don't see why you couldn't compete. I like this set up. I actually felt I had a better shot. I'm like everybody else. If I see a friend of mine's shot, I vote. This was really fair. I didn't tell anybody I entered and got a votes based on the quality compared to others rather than friend votes. There will, of course, be those people who feel it won't be appropriate but my vote is why not.

Thank you for the info, I wasn't going to enter, but really wanted to see if anyone else added pictures to it since the 1st time I looked at them, just wanted to check out their pictures & idea's but couldn't find them. I think to morrow will be one week since I joined this site and still trying to learn my way around it. I thought the contest was a great idea!! I do hope you do more of them!

You did a great job with the contest, and as the photos were anonymous, I don't feel you should penalize yourself by not submitting one as no one would know it was yours anyway. You give us the chance to use our imagination and maybe learn more about our cameras. You deserve the same chance to compete.
