Supposedly there is a firmware update for the Nikon D7000 updating the B firmware from 1.02 to 1.03.

I have been trying to update my camera with no luck. The camera won't recognize the update I loaded onto the SD card. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Rich

All I can suggest is making sure your battery is fully charged, you format the card, and follow Nikons instructions carefully. Good luck.

Hi Rich,
This may sound daft and apologies if it does but are you confident you need to update and have you carried out the correct procedures?

This is the European instructions which MIGHT be different from the US stuff.

If you are comfortable with the process to upgrade your camera, use the basic instructions. If you require more support, use the detailed step by step instructions which contain helpful images linked below.

Basic Firmware Upgrade Instructions
Power the camera from AC adapter unit or use a fully charged battery.

Create a new folder with an appropriate name on your computer's hard drive.
Download the Windows (.EXE) or Macintosh (.DMG) file from the links at the bottom of this page to the folder created in step 1.
Run the downloaded file to create a folder called D7000Update which contains the firmware D7000_0103.bin file.
Use a card reader or similar device to copy the D7000_0103.bin file to the root directory of a formatted SD memory card.
Insert the memory card into the camera's memory card slot and turn on the camera. If the camera has dual memory card slots, insert the card into slot 1.

Select Firmware version from the camera's setup menu and follow instructions displayed to upgrade the firmware.
*When the D7000 A firmware is already version 1.02, “1.02” is displayed for both “Current” and “New”.
After the upgrade is complete, turn the camera off and remove the memory card.
Access the Firmware version item in the camera's setup menu to confirm that the firmware has been upgraded.
After confirming the firmware version, turn the camera off and leave it off for five seconds or more before using it.

Important Note
Do not remove the battery or disconnect the EP-5B power connector before five seconds have passed (the time required for the camera to be off the second time). If the battery is removed or the EP-5B power connector is disconnected before the five seconds have passed, turn the camera on and then off again, leave it off for five seconds and then remove the battery or disconnect the EP-5B power connector again.

Good luck with the installation and fingers crossed it will work.

The reason is that the update is supposed to address the issue of SD cards not being read correctly.

I'm getting error codes from two new 16gb class 10 SanDisk SD cards. SanDisk is recommending the upgrade to see if it cures the problem.

I can get the upgrade onto the SD card but it does not recognize it when inserted into the camera.

Are you using these cards to do the update?

Thanks for the heads up. I did the first upgrade, but I think I'll wait a while for this one.

I am not using the SanDisk card. I am using a Sony 4gb class 4 card as I have never had a problem with it.

If you are following their instructions and it still isn't working, I'd contact Nikon Support. Email addresses and phone numbers can be found in your camera documentation as well as the NikonUSA web site.

I upgraded my D7000 in march to A 1.02-B 1.03
The upgrade was dated 11-11.
Today when i pulled up the nikon firmware site it lists 06/26/2012 10:28 AM for the same updates.
I was under the impression if there was a change it would be reflected in the A & B #'s
Do i need to call nikon???
I checked my firmware & it is A 1.02-B 1.03, but the date of 06/26/12 confuses me. Bill

If you are referring to this page:
http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/17542

The file (Macintosh version) is dated 11/9/2011. I believe the "Updated 06/26/2012 10:28 AM" at the top of the page refers to the question "How do I upgrade my camera firmware?"

I called nikon & they said it was a reminder.
If you have the A 1.02 & B 1.03 you are up to date.
If there was a change it would go up one grade on the #'s

If you also own a P7000 bridge camera definetely upgrade it. Before the upgrade in firmware the P7000 was a POS. Bill

I did the firmware update several months ago. Went without a hitch.

Just follow the instructions to the letter, or, it won't work.
