I heard various snippets on a NPR feed to our MPR and noticed how thin the clapping was. I several places Trump would pause and there woukd be a noticeable gap before thin clapping ensued. I will give Trump some credit - it sounded fairly well-read. Trump's speaking sure doesn't spur enthusiasm.

If no one believed in diplomacy, 3 wouldn't be the number of the next world war. There is a reason we have a state department. There's a reason we have embassies, even in some places we don't really like. He was crude and vulgar on the campaign trail. Apparently there are few rules in campaigning and it worked for him. Now he has taken a politician's job. It's time for him to sound like one. We live in a pretty divided country and even more divided world. There are times to "tell it like it is" (even if it isn't) and there are times for more formal speech. It isn't about him, but I'm guessing he will go to his grave without ever realizing it.
Why do you think that in hostage situations the police use negotiators? How about because acting like John Wayne would likely make things worse. I don't know what the answer is on N Korea, but I'm pretty sure backing Kim into a corner isn't it.

What you have him say " we will bow and scrape and let Kim nuke us and/or our allies and do nothing but wait for a second attack." The last 3 presidents FAILED. They allowed NO KO to acquire Nukes and the capability to deliver them, even though they sai that they would not allow NOKO to do this. So I guess you are willing to lose LA or San FRAN before we retailiate. Wewon the cold war by letting The USSR know that we would strike if attacked. That is exactly what Trump told NoKo. Attack us and it will be the last thing you will ever do.

How many lives are you willing to lose. What you suggest could cost millions of lives. Of course most of them won't be American, or white. I don't know enough about you to know if that makes a difference. If we were able to take him out with a sniper or something, do we have any idea what would replace him? You may, I don't.
Oh, as long as Hitler stayed within his borders the US didn't seem to care about him at all. Even when he started conquering we didn't do anything for a while. Probably a bad move, but it is what we did.

His speech was great! I liked the part where he told the UN members to start paying their share,it is about time we had someone who actually represents America rather than apologize to these reprobates for being the president of the greatest country in the world.
