I would respectfully ask you to assist me (and possibly others) in dealing with a new member who has, in the past two weeks, tried to dominate this section with more than 50 new topics and more than 1000 posts. Please understand that I welcome new members who ask challenging questions. I never thought there was such a thing as a dumb question, but I am beginning to doubt this philosophy. Or maybe the questions are not dumb, but deliberately inane, irritating, irrelevant and intellectually insulting. I admit that my responses have not been gentlemanly, and, for that, I apologize. I have recently tried to reach out to this member, but I am blocked from doing so. And no, I will not say the user name of the person to whom I refer. That I find the composition of that name to be offensive is my own cross to bear (pun intended) and my reaction may not be supported due to the members First Amendment rights. I ask this question for myself and not for any coalition of members. Thank you.
He is on my ignore list. Wish there were a way to not even see his topics!!!

Ignoring this member is a good thing to do, and the individual in question is both trolling and trawling the site with an excessive number of questions / requests for information.
This person adds people who question his or her motives to his ignore list, and a number members have done the same in response.
However, the fact remains that the behavior of a single new member is being very disruptive to the normal operation of this section of the forum. It is similar in nature to a denial of service attack.
For myself, the name of the individual is less important than the behavior.
What options do we have as individuals if we object to this kind of hijacking? There are several:
Report any and all of these posts that we find disruptive.
Do not respond to these types of questions, they have a very distinct profile.
Add this specific individual to our ignore lists.
Do not respond to any post by this indivual.
Only respond to questions from trusted / known members, or to questions that appear to reflect more normal behavior.
If nothing appears to work, and admin appears to do nothing to restrict this behavior from this specific member, perhaps we should resort to more drastic options such as not posting anything to UHH for a period of a week for example to see if it gets noticed.
I'm sure others will have thoughts and suggestions.
It will be interesting to see if admin responds in anyway, and also how quickly this thread gets moved to chit chat or similar.
Really?
If there is a problem with an user, why not contact the admin in private vs a misspelled lerner to the admin?
I have no clue as to who that might be and I really do not care. If it is a troll, ignore. Your choice. If the issue is too many posts or threads, ignore too. It is not difficult. I know I do not open quite a few threads for lack on interest in the 'writer'. Do the same, it will do some good to your blood pressure.
ALWAYS YOUR CHOICE when you interact with anyone, anywhere, anytime. The admin is not there to make the choice for you or anyone else for that matter.
Ron this is like a petition. Generally admins ignore requests about users when you PM. This may offer a sign up list which isn't possible otherwise. When a user floods the main page with their threads, it is difficult to ignore them. There are people here concerned about this user. If you don't agree or care, why don't you take your own advise and ignore this thread.`

Not true. The user I reported was banned.
By the way, I suggest banning these folks too, they post more than your current irritant and for far longer....
.
Sorry guys but according to this thread you have a set number of posts you cannot pass... And YOU DID!!!!

After joining a couple of said topics with the person described, I soon opted to not open his threads. No problem here...There are others who are worse!
The offending user was placed on my ignore list when the nature and tone of his questions became apparent.

Respect it or not, the nameless "new member" has generated a lot of discussion and triggered pages of responses. That is the object here.
Easy to be a cranky old fool and just simply put people you disagree with on IGNORE. LOL!
