Juneau bears and more

When we arrived at the ferry terminal at Auk Bay (Juneau), it was late morning. I turned away from Juneau, and came upon this sow with two cubs eating dandelion flowers. They were right beside the road.
I included a pict of Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center with NO PEOPLE (after the tour buses had left). Something most visitors don't get to see.
The Sea Lions on the buoy put on quite a show. A big bull wanted on the buoy, and after several tries, knocked off another sea lion to make room. The eagle flew in to see what all the commotion was about, lol.
Sawyer Glacier was quite active about 6 hours after a 5.7 quake. This particular calving created a wave least 4 feet high, but due to the amount of ice already in the water from the quake, the wave was calmed before it reached our boat, a block or so away. This occurred on June 04, 2014.

A very interesting series. I've always wanted to take a cruise to Alaska, but I don't think I'll ever make it.

After driving it, I don't think I could do a cruise. Too many places I needed to stop and take pictures, lol. I actually got fairly good at taking photos driving down the highway, using my right hand to hold the camera out the window, and guessing as to how best to position the camera for a picture. Oh, so many I missed, sigh. (I would wrap the strap around my wrist first).

Thanks for the great comment. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Alaska, to say the least. It is AWESOME, summer and winter. Photos just cannot 'do' Alaska justice!

Outstanding set of photos and I enjoyed all the downloads. Have never been to AK, but still have hopes.

Thanks for the great comment!
One evening in late 2013, after looking at some of Mikes Alaska photo's (blacks2 on the UHH), the thought occurred to me that there would never be a better time than 'NOW' to go to Alaska. I am getting somewhat older, and the body is getting, well not so great. So if we were to ever go, NOW was the time! Started making reservations, it took about two months of making arrangements. But we did it, our way. Spent 31 days there, and not near long enough... Turn your hopes into action! You will be glad you did!!!
I have kept notes in my computer of places I would like to visit. I suggest you do the same, if you don't already. Driving yourself is best, but a cruise ship will get you started, if nothing else is possible. Good Luck!
