Just something maybe not photographed to often...
This crayfish was at least a foot long... I had no idea that they can be so big and red!

I took those shots in two days as he was patrolling little creek.

The last shot I took today...this is a different crayfish... with his little friend.

We would pay good money for that gene pool here in Louisiana. If he is truly one foot long(can't tell in your photo as there is nothing to give perspective) he would make our hall of fame. Maybe it's really a lobster. Capture him and hold a ruler to him so we can see his true size!

Quite interesting set. I wonder if it is thinking 'frog for dinner'.
I remember when I was a kid, seeing some about this size. A neighbor caught some rather large crayfish, in or near the Arkansas River. Have not seen any that size since.

This Monster is no longer in his spot (I observe the place almost daily).
Sorry, I am not able to help with his gene pool. The area belongs to Sepulveda Wildlife Preserve... http://sepulvedabasinwildlife.org/sbwr.html ...you can ask them if they would help.
