When I find a great photo posted here or else-where can
I share it on my Goggle+ circle, or would this not be
ok...
I don't want to do anything that will get the photographer

no you can not unless you get permission from the photographer. send them a private message. most will okay it if you give them the credit for the photo. others will not because they have copyrighted their work. I would give you permission if you ask first and credit my work.

That's not a silly question; it is a great one, and I applaud you asking it.
As stated by sinatraman above, without the photographer's permission, you should not do it for several valid reasons.

What you CAN do is post a link TO it. That way you have copied nothing - the image is in its original place.

my forehead stays bruised....that's why i do not post my photo as my avatar....you might think i get beat by my wife.....
