For those of you who may have visited Waterton National Park you may be interested to know that a major forest fire is devastating it right now. So far approximately 50,000 acres have burnt and although the entire park and town site have been evacuated, the iconic Prince of Wales Hotel was saved. The visitor center was destroyed however.

Been a tough year here in the US too, the west is on fire and the south is experiencing unbelievable flooding because of the hurricanes. Our prayers go out to all the people affected by these disasters, including you good folks in Canada.

So sad. I've stayed at the Prince of Wales Hotel a couple of times on trips to Waterton National Park & on to Banff. Such a beautiful place so hope they're able to save it. I myself never stayed at Sperry Chalet in Glacier Nat. Park but my brother has & that burned to the ground last week in the Montana fires.

I live in the upper portion of the Midwest, South East Wisconsin. We do get some severe Winter weather around here some of the time (last Winter was exceptionally mild), it doesn't compare to the natural disasters that are experienced in other parts of the country. Yes, there is an occasional tornado in the Midwest, but I don't think they compare to the forest fires and hurricanes we have been seeing elsewhere in the country this year. I think I'll stick to this area of the country. Besides, we have cheese and beer!!!!
