Food Photography, McDonald's

I saw the following PR video about how McDonald's in Canada does food photography. I've done several food projects in the past, and found this one fairly honest and accurate. Some tricks were not shown obviously.

I've done shoots for Nabisco, Sunshine Bakery, Kraft Foods, Ralston Purina, KFC, Taco Bell, BurgerKing, and Continental baking (Twinkes and pies).

A very interesting subject for those who have been involved. Has anyone else dabbled into this arena?

I did a little advertising for a very small TV station once, and had someone do a similar hamburger. The ARTIST also used toothpicks (3) through the sandwich to keep the bun from flattening, and keep the lettice and tomatoes looking fluffier. There is an art to making food look good.

My son owns several resturants and he invited me to watch the studio he uses photograph the food shots. They have a kitchen there and as soon as it is cooked they shoot, very interesting. As usual, more to it than I thought there would be.

A friend of mine used to do all the ad work for Ralphs Grocery chain but lost his job over 3 years ago due to the economy and having the work done for less in India. He photographed and post processed with CS and Illustrator (from what I understand)
