Caterpillar of the Oak Eggar Moth. Taken yesterday at Flanders Moss National Nature Reserve near Stirling. There were hundreds of them visible in the grass and heather. Seldom see the adult moths though. The last shot is a female in a rather tatty state as she had been laying eggs in the grass. Caterpillars reach about 4" in length. The adult moth is about 2" long.
Beautiful detail on the moth.
Very nice. Those caterpillar close-ups are wonderful for their exceptionally sharp little details.

i like the moth
Thanks tinusbum. She wasn't looking her best but they are beautiful even when a bit battered.
The cat photos are wonderful. The jaws are really great. The moth really does look a little the worse for the wear.
Excellent David. Very sharp shots.
