So very proud of my son...he has participated in this memorial for 4 years. I have to warn you....in door lighting and I do not get along, but I did want to share. 343 men and women climbed 110 floors in memory of the 343 firefighters who climbed the Twin Towers trying to save as many individuals as they could and in the process gave of themselves. Thank you for looking.

My birthday is 9/11 since this tragedy it is no longer a celebration, God bless your son and all who participated.
Back then the motto was "we will never forget", we did.

I was in the Trade center on 9/11. I had just gotten off one of the last PATH trains from New Jersey before service was suspended. Coming up the escalator to the main concourse I immediately new something was wrong. The sounds and noises were different than usual. There were fireman and police everywhere and people scurrying to leave the building. Only a few minutes earlier the first plane had hit the North Tower.

The most vivid image of my brief time in the concourse that morning was a very large fireman down on one knee with a small WTC worker sitting on the other leg. He was washing the soot and grime from his face and eyes with a white cloth and a large bottle of Avian water. The imagery was like a father caring for his son. I know that fireman probably ran back up to help others when he was through, and perished a short time later. I've thought of him a thousand times since then.

As I left the Trade Center and made my way to Broadway the second plane hit the South Tower. Like everyone I started to run and was pelted with tiny pieces of concrete and dust that fell like hale-stones. A little later, I watched in shock from a window on the 39th floor of my building at 60 Wall street, a short distance away, as the South Tower started to shimmer and shake and lean slightly as it started to pancake causing my building to shake. There were many things I saw that day, some tragic and some inspiring, but the image of that fireman will stay with me forever.

Thank God for all of the first responders who gave their life for others and for the horrible loss of life on 9/11.
Thanks to your son for his tribute to all who worked that day to serve others.

I don't recall reading such a piece from someone who experienced that
in person as you had. It was hard enough to see it on the news and to
read about it in newspapers and such; I cannot imagine the thoughts
that must go through your mind - probably on a daily basis. God bless
all who lost their lives and those, like you, who had to witness such an
event....

I was in the Trade center on 9/11. I had just gott... (show quote)

I lost 3 friends that day. Practically every one I know either directly knew somebody that died that day or knew someone who in turn knew somebody that died. My wife is and was a nurse manager at a large hospital in New Jersey. Two of her colleagues also lost loved ones that day.

For a week I worked from home until basic services were restored in the Wall Street area. My commute changed because the train station in the World Trade Center no longer existed. I started commuting directly into New York Penn Station.

For the next few weeks my commutes were accompanied almost every day by firemen in their dress uniforms from cities and towns all over New Jersey, Delaware and Pennsylvania as they traveled into New York to participate in one fireman's funeral after another. Day after day. And very few of these funerals had a body for loved ones to mourn over.

We deal with things because we have no choice and time is a healer. But to this day, I cannot watch images or videos of the events of that day without being deeply affected. I survived unscathed, but it was still the absolutely worst day of my life.
