From my short drive this morning. Criticisms accepted. I have a lot to learn.

I like your photos but suggest you get closer for more impact. The last photo seems to have a very soft focus.

Dennis, thanks for the comment. Most everything I want to take a picture of is fenced off. Can't get there without trespassing. Do use a zoom lens. Guess I should have zoomed it more.

If it is ok with you I would like to edit the first photo to show you how you can eliminate some of the haze and bring up the color through the zone system as well as a crop to get the feeling of being closer to the subject.
I always ask if a person would like me to do an edit as it is your photo.

Please do. And maybe tell me what you did, if not too complicated.

It is a bit rough but here goes: I used the haze filter in camera raw, then opened photoshop cc,
and used the zone system to tone map and color using each of the red, green, and blue curves.
then I added a color gradient at 20% in softlight along with a small radiance boost. Like I said this was quick so its not perfect by any means. By the way very nice set of compositions looks like possibly up by Raton pass area.

Are the fences to keep animals in, people out, or both?

Terry44, it definitely has more impact. Thank you. I just got Affinity but have not really used it yet. All of these are within 5 miles of where I live in Sapello, 12 miles north of Las Vegas, NM.

I have Affinity also but haven't done much with it yet, it looks like a pretty decent program

Beautiful set. Thanks for sharing. NM is my new home state. Just became a resident 3 weeks ago! Spent 3 months camp hosting in your neck of the woods; Storrie Lake. Certainly is the Land of Enchantment!

If you want to learn look up the rules of composition and learn to use them. You can break the rules when you understand why they are the rules. Photo 1 for example. The leading line of the road leads to no where so I am confused. The gate is interesting but it is too far away to play the role of a foreground object to provide depth. Your horizon line is in the middle making me wonder do I look at the meadow (but there is no subject there) or at the mountain, or the sky???? Learn the rule of thirds. You shot this at mid day when the light is never at its best. Learn about the Blue Hour and the Golden Hour to add drama to your photos.

Usually I'm done shooting by the time I've gotten to 2 hours past sunrise, until about 2 hours before sunset. Unless it is an overcast day, then I love to shoot water (there is no glare)

BTW---you badly overexposed the roof of the barn. Because you shot it when the light was too bright. It would look really cool during one of the golden hours.

Just my humble opinion.

Good Luck.

First one is the best of all and all the more better with terry44's post process.

But, over all, good vibes from the images. Keep shooting .. 😊
