I recently learned Sigma makes their own mirrorless camera, the SD Quattro. Adorama shows a listing for it. Just wondered if anyone has one, has used one or knows someone who does. DP review says it is very good on capturing details but rather slow. Just curious.

I had several Sigmas over the years ( really tried to like 'em, but never did). I had some SLR's and DSLRS, shot with the Merill 1, but I never liked the handling on any of them, they really sucked at autofocusing, IQ was decent, but nowhere near what I had hoped for! Also "collected" over a dozen of their lenses over time, but I got rid of all of them, lenses and cameras and never looked back ( I think their line of Global Vision lenses are finally good lenses, even I would not buy one). That's my 2 cents.

I don't know much about their line of cameras because I shoot Canon, but I do have 3 of their lenses, and IMO they are superb. Sigma 150-600 Contemporary, 105 mm macro, and a 10-20 wide. Have you considered the Canon line up of mirrorless options?

I have an Oly em5ii. Not ready to part with it. Was just curious about the Sigma as I know they make good lenses.

I have had two Sigma DSLRs, SD10 (my first dslr, got it because I was interested in the Foveon sensor) and SD14. At one time I had a flash, macro ring flash and 8 lenses for the two bodies. I now have only 3 lenses, the ring flash and the SD10. I will probably trade them off in a few months after I finish my macro experiments with it. The 70mm macro lens has always been one of Sigmas's sharpest lenses. The Foveon sensor is sort of a cult thing and does produce some outstanding images, esp with certain lenses. There is a cottage industry in adapters for various brand lenses to mount on the Sigma bodies.
Look here for postings of the images and links to the adapters: http://www.sigmacumlaude.com/ warning the server for the site is old and now slower than a snail at times. Also look here to see Sigma bodies/lens produced pictures, go to Gallery on tip banner, one section is only pictures with the Foveon sensor: http://www.sigmaphoto.com/

At the local camera store's expo in Riverside, CA a short time ago I was talking to the Sigma rep while looking at their latest lenses (they make some outstanding lenses for Canon, Nikon and others). He handed me their latest camera and also an SD-1. I looked at/handled them both and commented that someone at the design section needed to learn something about looks and ergonomics since their bodies tend to be clunky and often squared off where Canon, Nikon and other are rounded and feel/look good.

I have a SD 14 among my camera collection, I shoot it sometimes on landscapes when I go to Big Bend Texas, I have 2 really good sigma lenses and it makes nice images, not my first choice but kinda fun to play with if I'm looking for a little different texture in my pics.
