Ok guys and gals! This may have been posted before so don't beat me up too bad.
I read or heard some where that the Canon SX 50 was a little better than the newer one SX60.
There are a couple here for sale and of course I've been looking at newer and better, but sometimes that isn't always true.
My brother says the cost and camera is low end and feels I should go to a little higher end camera since they are forever changing.
Go ahead beat my brother up but not me! Lol

I had a Canon SX50 and liked it very much! Easy to use with a practical layout. Nice array of features. When the SX60 came along, I thought about upgrading, but reviews seemed to indicate it was not a significant improvement. Either would probably suit your needs, but I wouldn't discount the SX50 based on its age, esp. if the deal was attractive. This photo, one of my favorites, was taken with the SX50. /Ralph
Among several UHH members who have demonstrated here with pictures their preference for Canon SX50, I like it myself for the clean images I can get from such a small camera, its layout of controls, very impressive zoom range and a selftimer (shutter delay) up to 30 seconds without any additional device.
Tony Britton (another happy user and contributor to UHH) explained in detail here also his preference for Canon SX50.
I've had both and never warmed up to the SX60. As a bridge camera with super zoom you can't go wrong with the SX50 unless you go with the Nikon P900 with a little better IQ and more Zoom.
I Bought Mine in (SX50) February 2014 & Its Done Wonders For Me Despite it's Small Sensor & Not Giving Real Razor Sharp Photos, I Like the SX50.
Several Features I Like About the SX50 That the SX60 Doesn't Have is 2 Features on its Creative Filters...
Color Accent & Color Swap that Canon Phased Out On it's Powershot Cameras by 2015
Other Features with the SX50 Also Are...
24-1200 Zoom Lens
HDR & Soft Focus Feature in the Creative Filter Section
Color Burst W/10 Shot Feature, Night Shot Scene, & Stitch Feature For Panorama Photos
&... A Couple of Other Features I Can't Mention
& You Have Gagdets on the SX50 As Well with the SX60 in the Menu Section That Will Enhance Your Photos such as Red Eye Correction, Photo ID Tag, My Color Short Cut Selection, Etc, Etc
With The SX60 You Have Features Such as... 21-To About 1600 Built in Zoom, A Photo Collage Scene Where You Can Have Several Photos Lumped in One Single Photos & A Couple Of Other Features.
&...Last...The SX 50 & 60 Have a Hot Shoe Where You Can Put A Separate Flash on The Cameras, Nikon Doesn't Have this on its Bridge Camera Including it's P900 Bridge Camera That Came Out Last Year.
But Disadvantage... You Cant Use the Built In Flash & The Attached Flash as a Twin Flash on the SX50 & 60
The SX50 Was the Better Camera & Got Rave Reviews, The SX60 Mainly Got None!

We have both the 50 & 60. For all practical purposes there is very little difference between the 2.
Both are great little cameras, and make good backups to the D810 and D7100.
Personally I like the sx50 a little better...a little more CA with the 60 all the way out.
Yes, I am looking at the Nikon B700. Very fine camera but my heart leans toward Canon. Thanks for responding.
I have never tried the SX60 but I really enjoy use ing the SX50 ,I carry it as a backup when Hiking for closeup and landscape when I've got the 100to400 L ON MY 7DMK2 ! I don't need to drag along extra lenses ( I really try to avoid changing lenses outside)

Oooooo my! Lovely shots. Although I'm all to familiar with the phrase, it's not the camera but the camera user. Than you for photos.

New is not always better. Both cameras will provide limited IQ as a direct result of using the tiny sensor which makes super-zoom possible, but if you're OK with that, no one should complain. My sense from what various people have posted here at UHH is that the Canon lens wizards did better on the SX50 lens - perhaps the compromises inherent in that extra bit of "reach" was just a tad too much.
