Mama bears are very protective of her cubs. Evan a male bear would have a tough fight with her.
Excellent photos that tell a story. Nice work.

My original post showed mom Brown Bear challenging a male Brown Bear who had been chasing her and her cubs. These photos show the series from first sighting male Brown Bear to the chase and the swat from Momma Bear.
What captivating captures...loved them all
What a great series! My heart would have been beating so hard, I'm afraid I would have forgotten to click the shutter! Nicely done. How far away were you?

choward_ab: You can certainly see the need to get out of there on the faces of Mom and her cubs... Thank you for sharing this series, shows you don't screw with Mother Nature...
Love it gotta get there sometime !!!
Outstanding nature photography.
Wow! What an interesting set, and something I have never, nor ever will see in real life. Thanks for posting.

Excellent timing, excellent photos! I agree, the male is not very old, as they get older they look more muscular. We had a younger male use us as 'protection' from a older male chasing it away from HIS 'woman', while visiting Katmai. He got about 15 feet away, or less... Katmai is my all time favorite as to scenic beauty!!!
Thanks for sharing this exciting set!
