This is a photo of the Everett Rd. covered bridge in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. I had to hurry since I had a very limited time with no one else on the bridge. I changed it to b&w because I thought the color was too distracting from the lines and angles. What do you think? Thanks!

Each has it's own merit. But, I would choose the color. It is subdued, not gaudy. And, it adds flavor to the bridge. Yes, #2 is my vote.

I'll vote for the black and white, though I wish it had more contrast.

I like the black and white image. I do agree with jaymatt that a little more contrast would give it a pop.

I absolutely agree with you about using b/w. It is a picture of lines and shapes, and the nuances and textures of color only weaken the impact. It is interesting that the trees beyond seem less overexposed in the b/w, and the nearby floor seems more in focus as well. The low angle is excellent here, and the upward tilt emphasizes the angle of view. The rich blackness in the roof and the luminous highlight above the walls place all the beams in a full range of mid-tones. It may or may not be enhanced by trying a more off-center angle, though it could easily just be cropped that way.

I prefer the B&W version. Will attempt one myself today. Thanks.

I vote for the black and white. It has more impact. Try to play reducing the light and increasing the black.

I was about to vote color on this.. and then looked again another few minutes. Nope, I changed my mind.. b/w. I almost wish you could not see the far end of the bridge...I love looking at the lines without the distraction.

Thank you for all your input! I think I like the bw version best and I do agree that it needs more contrast. I went back to photoshop and aded the contrast and it does look better. Again, thank you for all your comments and suggestions. I'm still learning!

Both are nice but the B&W is my preference.
