Several years ago I bought a Sony a330 factory refurbished directly from Sony USA. If I go to their website now I cannot find any mention of refurbished cameras. Retailers like Adorama and KEH offer used Sony dslr's but not factory refurbished. Does Sony no longer refurbish cameras, and if they do does anybody know where I can find them? Thanks!

Really? I just googled "refurbished cameras by Sony" and I got a slew of responses, including places like Best Buy. I found all sorts of models being sold by many reputable retailers.

720,000 links, but any cameras?

Maybe Sony doesn't want competition from itself.

The one that really caught my eye was the Best Buy ad. It is current with several models offered. I did not check out the rest because I know that places like B&H always seem to have a few on hand at various times and then go dry, and then they have some more, etc.

I must be missing something. When I google "refurbished cameras by sony" all I'm seeing from Best Buy are two "open box" lenses. When I go directly to websites for Adorama, B&H and Cameta I find plenty of Nikon and some Canon and Olympus certified refurbished, but nothing at the Sony website. Canon USA and Nikon USA have listings for factory refurbished cameras, but I see nothing like that at the Sony website. Can you provide the link to the Best Buy offers? Thanks.

There were several links to Best Buy. Here is one of them.

I hope this helps.

All I see is one new camera, the HX-80.

Did you look at the link? Nothing listed is refurbished.

Be cautious before buying "Open Box" or "Refurbished" cameras from Bestbuy. I have bought Open Boxed lenses from them before that were like new, however the last time they had a Sony "Open Box" A6000 I drove 20 miles to look at it. When I saw it I was totally disappointed. It looked like it came out of a pawn shop after someone had drug it behind a pickup truck for a few miles. It had obviously been used hard and returned. And there was no original box, accessories or papers included. And they had put it in a clear plastic tupperware box instead of the original box. No accessories or papers included. It was priced $50 less than new. I talked to the store manager about the heavily used condition of the item and his attitude was "take it or leave it". Now I don't get too excited when I see an "Open Box" or "Refurbished" item from Bestbuy. Let the buyer beware. I now buy from B&H or Adorama and have never been disappointed.

Going by title in links or at the top of a page can be misleading. Folks need to read all the words before posting something as fact. All the BestBuy links I followed show 'open box', not refurbished.

I bought a A77II refurb off ebay 2 years ago. - but today they are almost non-existent. Search ebay .....there may be some independent sellers.

Have you found any 'factory refurbished'?

The standard for Amazon suppliers may not be as high.

"This Certified Refurbished product is tested and certified to look and work like new. The refurbishing process includes functionality testing, basic cleaning, inspection, and repackaging. The product ships with all relevant accessories, a minimum 90-day warranty, and may arrive in a generic box. Only select sellers who maintain a high performance bar may offer Certified Refurbished products on Amazon.com"

In other words if it works they dust it off and stick it in a box. Sounds more like used and should be listed a such.

IMHO

I recall an announcement by Sony a few years ago that they were no longer going to market refurbished gear. And instead, provide it to a number of resellers, and let them sell it. Don't know if I could ever find that announcement again.
